Traditional hotel and accommodation booking sites have a problem. If you’re a traveller in search of environmentally friendly lodging, you may have noticed what that is: 
they don’t focus on sustainability. “Focus” is actually a strong word, most don’t even have a “green”, “eco”, “sustainable” or “wellness” filter.

A 2022 Sustainable Travel Report by Booking.com shows that 81% of global travellers think sustainable travel is essential, with 70% saying they would be more likely to book sustainable accommodation for their next trip.

Travellers who stayed in sustainable accommodation within the last year reported that they want to reduce their impact on the environment (41%), have a more local experience (33%) and treat the surrounding community better (31%).

On the other hand, 31% reported that they didn’t even know sustainable accommodations existed among travellers who did not stay at sustainable accommodations.

This is down 36% from the previous year, while it reflects an increased awareness
and demand for sustainable properties, it also shows a big gap left to fill.
